AWARDS

Integral to its role as a health partner, the Alumni sponsors two annual awards:

  • ALUMNI VOLUNTEER AWARD

In 2008, the Alumni Volunteer Award was established to recognize dedicated, consistently high performing volunteers who selflessly assist in the administration and operation of the Ottawa Heart Institute Alumni. Given that our organization is almost exclusively dependent on the hard work of such volunteers, the award is presented from time to time as appropriate candidates are identified.

  • WILBERT J. KEON AWARD

In 1988, the Wilbert J. Keon Award was established, in honour of the founder of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Dr. Wilbert Keon, to recognize outstanding achievement in Cardiovascular Medicine in Canada. In 2001, the focus became excellence exemplified by fellows and residents during their training at the Heart Institute.

  • MARY CLINCKETT ALUMNI AWARD

In 1999, the Alumni Award was established to recognize exceptional contributions by Heart Institute nursing, administrative, support or volunteer personnel. In 2004, effective with the presentation of the 2003 Award, it was renamed the Mary Clinckett Award to recognize the founder of the Alumni and to ensure that the Alumni remember Mary and her contribution to the Heart Institute.

The Awards are usually presented at the Annual General Meeting held in June.
