Change is Coming to MyOttawaHeart: The Heart Institute is Transitioning to a New Patient Portal

Thank you for making our patient portal, myOttawaHeart, an important part of how you manage your health.

On June 1, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute will join The Ottawa Hospital, Hawkesbury General Hospital, Renfrew Victoria Hospital, St. Francis Memorial Hospital, and the TOH Family Health Team, in launching a new integrated electronic patient care system called Epic. With Epic, wherever you go for care, your health information will follow you in a single unified patient record. With our new Epic system, we will also launch a new patient portal called Epic MyChart.

We are aware it is possible you presently have access to both the TOH MyChart and the myOttawaHeart portal. The Heart Institute will gradually stage the activation of Epic MyChart for the patients under our care to ensure a smooth and easy transition. Having said this, you may be approached by one of our partner hospitals to register into Epic MyChart and, you should feel free to do so. By using Epic MyChart at any of the hospitals above, you will have access to all of your information regardless of where you received care.

What’s next?

  • At the end of the summer, we will send out an e-mail with a link to sign up, an activation code for Epic MyChart, and easy-to-follow instructions.
  • You will continue to have access to myOttawaHeart until September 2019 but you will only be able to view the information that you have personally entered into the portal and your educational material. Medical information will no longer be accessible until you rejoin Epic MyChart.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, contact us at EpicMyChart@ottawaheart.ca.

Best regards,
The Epic MyChart Team
